Doha – Qatar 11/04/2006: Bashir Mraish Consultancy announced that it has coordinated the signing of a partnership between the Olympic Council of Asia and the Organizing Committee of the 15th Asian Games – Doha 2006 to certify Otsuka Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. – Japan, producers of the famous iso-tonic sports drink “Pocari Sweat” The official drink for the 15th Asian Games , this marks the third time that Otsuka has become a part of the Asian Games family.
Otsuka is world-renowned as a beverage producer of choice for athletes and the company first sponsored the Asian Games in 1988 at the Bangkok Games and then again at the 14th Asian Games in Busan, Korea.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Abdullah Khaled Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Hussein Al-Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, and Mr. Toshiyuki Tachibana, representing Otsuka Pharmaceutical Company – Japan.
On this occasion, Mr. Abdullah Khalid Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Organizing Committee said: “We are very proud of what Doha 2006 was able to achieve in terms of international reputation and recognition, which succeeded in attracting “Otsuka” and other prestigious international names. This healthy, refreshing and hydrating drink is famous for its Otsuka’s decision is part of their ongoing mission to promote and familiarize audiences with healthy ways and techniques for hydration, recovery and refuelling, and Doha 2006 will undoubtedly be the culmination of their ongoing efforts to promote and advance the status of “ Pocari Sweat ” towards new international horizons.
Al-Qahtani added, “There is no doubt that Otsuka’s participation and contribution with us reflects the extent of cooperation and team spirit for Doha 2006, and I am confident that Otsuka will accomplish what we aspire to together.”
The company will establish a “ Pocari Sweat ” camp in the athletes’ village with a carefully selected team of staff from Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries as well as Yemen, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Japan to introduce and support players to help them maintain their fitness during Doha 2006.
For his part, Mr. Toshiyuki Tachibana confirmed that signing the agreement today is a proud moment for Otsuka Pharmaceuticals to associate its name with the 2006 Doha Games. Make sport history.
